Bruce A. DeJonge October 13, 1936 February 3, 2008 Bruce A. DeJonge, 71, of Honeysuckle Lane in Niles, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Bruce was born on October 13, 1936 to the late Willard and Berdette (Mannes) DeJonge in Kent City, MI. He was one of 4 children in the DeJonge household. Bruce graduated from Comstock Michigan High School in 1954. After graduating he enlisted in the marines where he proudly served his country until 1957. After Bruce's tour of duty he attended Western Michigan University where he met the love of his life, Lois McNitt. They wed on August 30, 1958. Bruce then attended Adrian College. Bruce retired from Martin's Supermarkets in 1995 and then drove a school bus for Edwardsburg until his wife retired from teaching at the Brandywine Jr./Sr. High School. He was then able to fulfill his life's dream by purchasing a Motorhome. He enjoyed traveling south with Lois for the past 8 years. Bruce was also a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles and was an active member of the choir. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and son Randy who passed away in 1962 at the age of 3. He is survived by his amazing wife of nearly 50 years, Lois, Daughters Rhonda (Rob) Finn of Fruitport, MI and Renee (Joel) Maat of Holland, MI, Sons Rick (Krista) DeJonge of Austin, TX and Robb (Kymm) DeJonge of Niles, 12 Grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, 3 brothers Bill (Mary) DeJonge of Allendale, MI, Bob (Jackie) DeJonge of Hudsonville, MI and Hank (Ellen) DeJonge of Evergreen, CO. A time of visitation will take place from 3-5pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Niles. A funeral service for Bruce will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles with Pastor Lee Roggen officiating. Bruce will be interred at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend and also Hospice at Home, Inc. who came in to their home to help. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Niles.
