Obituary of James Perham

James "Jim" Earle Perham July 20, 1951 June 11, 2008 James Earle Perham, 56, of North 5th Street in Niles, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 with his wife by his side. Jim was born on July 20, 1951 to Jack Sr. and Margaret (Dittmar) Perham in South Bend, Indiana. He was one of 3 children growing up in the Perham household. After graduating from Niles High School Jim attended college for a few years. On May 5, 1982 Jim wed the love of his life, Sharlyne Day, at a ceremony in Niles. After being a competitive athlete and body builder for most of his life, in 1983, Jim decided to open Body Works Health and Fitness Center in Niles. He owned and operated the business until it closed in late 2006. He was a Rocket Football coach and spent most of his time outdoors. He was an excellent craftsman, creative cook and an avid Notre Dame fan. He loved golfing and fishing which often led to many hours of stories that he enjoyed telling his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sharlyne, step-daughter Sherrie Buchanan of Battle Creek, MI, 2 grandchildren, sister Ruthanne (Les) Tom of Niles and brother Jack Perham Jr. of Niles. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Niles from 6-7 p.m. with the funeral starting at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Niles.
