I was just informed of Jesse's passing, and I am sad to see that so much time has passed and I wasn't there to offer my condolences in person. Jesse was my first love, the first person who really made me smile, who showed me how beautiful life can be. I have never forgotten him. I regret that I let time and life slip between us and that now it is too late to reconnect with him. Annette, I never met you, but I offer you my sincere condolences and will pray for you and your children through these tough times. I am glad to hear that he was a great husband and father and that his memory will endure forever...

I met Jesse when we were in beginergarden at Eastside elementary in 1985. I remember one rainy day where we were coloring in class. I turned to Jesse and told him he was coloring outside the lines! He thanked me and then told me that my coloring was messy! That was a beginning of a friendship where we always had to point out the bad in each other, but the result was it made us better people. We always talked about that story for years, Jesse and I played baseball together, he was on my team, The A's, who was coached by Mark Shields. Everything Mark said about Jesse was true. My father coached Jesse as well, and he always had the same demeanor. All I can say is that I was there for Jesse for the tough times in his life, as he was for mine. We lost touch for awhile and he called me on Election day. It was like we never missed a beat, he seemed so proud of his family. We were going to get together at some point. That never happened, and it tears me apart. Jesse, I will miss you, and god bless you. My prayers also go out to Annette and kids, Linda, and Michael, who was a great step-father to Jesse. Rest in peace Jesse, and I will tell my son who taught his dad how to color.

As an employee of The Tavern (right behind Saylors) I had the pleasure of waiting on Jessie a few times. I was always happy to see him come in, he was so easy to talk to and just such a nice guy. We had a few conversations about our families, and I remember that his face always lit up when he talked about his. My heart goes out to Annette and the rest of Jessie's family. May God bless you all.

Annette - I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't get to know Jessie as much as I possibly could have, but from what I saw everytime the two of you came in, he was an absolutly doting husband. He was always nice and quick to smile. You had a very good man, and I'm sorry God choose to take him home so soon.

My thoughts and prayers are with the king family during this difficult time. I remember Jesse from high school unfortunately I did not give myself a chance to get to know him since we did not run with the same crowd. I did however order food from Saylors and got to talk to him often. We always talked about our family's and it was nice to get to know him. He loved his family so much and by listening to him speak about you his life was complete when he married and had children. I am so sorry for your loss. My sympathy and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time.

Even though Jessie and I haven't been in contact for a number of years I've always felt he was some one i would always be friends with no matter how much time has passed. He was one of the first people to befriend me when i transferred to Niles. It was hard for me to make friends because I didn't really fit in anywhere, Jessie made me feel like it didn't matter that i wasn't "black enough" to fit in. I'll keep Jessie in my heart for the remainder of my days.
Can i be notified when the service will be? I would really want to pay my respects.

When Jessie was a kid, he drove us all crazy. You couldn't tell him anything, he new it all and was so stubborn.Somehow we all survived and learned to love him or at least tolerate him.Jessie never did help pay for the broken window.Oh well, we'll call it even. We've been through a lot together, good and bad, but we will never forget him.We will be praying for the ones he left behind. We are so sorry for your loss. Jessie was on my Little League team and I remember how bad he wanted to pitch. After he played in the outfield and got bored enough to dig a hole, which the game had to stop and we had to fill it in(thats when he told me he was bored and wanted to pitch!)I gave him the opportunity the next game to pitch, and he got all 3 batters out. He made a memory that I will cherish and each time I would go to Saylors Jessie would wait on me and say Hello Sir! Which I replied just call me Mark or Coach. We both would laugh. I was saddened to hear this news and now can only believe Jessie has went home to live eternally with the Lord. For his family you are all in my prayers, and if it helps to hear your Son was a wonderful human being with a genuine soul. God Bless you all.
