Obituary of Eleanore Veronica McGill

Eleanore Veronica (Okonski) McGill, 91, of Niles, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana on Friday, September 13, 2013. Eleanore was born on January 12, 1922 to the late Edward and Lottie (Banicki) Okonski in South Bend. On October 9, 1941 she wed the love of her life, John W. McGill Sr., who passed away in 2002. Together they had five children. Eleanore was a wonderful wife and mother who enjoyed raising her five children. She attended Bertrand Bible Church in Niles. To say that Eleanore was active at the Niles Senior Center is an understatement. She was on the Advisory Board and loved to spend time helping out others. She enjoyed the friendship and bond from others there and loved playing BINGO at the Sr. Center. Eleanore is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Alfrieda Clymer and Mary Helminen; brothers Paul, John, Sylvester, Edward, Steve and William Okonski and one great grandson. She is survived by her children Patricia (Robert) Shepard of Niles, John (Mary) McGill of Elkhart, Indiana, William (Wilma) McGill of Niles, Betty (Shelby) Holloway of Niles and Dennis (Lily) McGill of Niles; grandchildren Robert (Robin) Shepard, Carl (Debbie) Shepard, Lisa (Jim) Johnson, Dustin Gill, Michael Harding, William (Karen Sherwood) McGill, Anne Marie (Kevin) Davis, Dale (Charlene) Sutfin, Kimberly Cagampang, Barbara (Kraig) Orpurt, Daniel (Heidi) Holloway, Ian McGill, Alec McGill and Deannis (Kelsey) Angeles; 26 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and siblings Marjorie Morrical of North Carolina, Dorothy Hart of Niles, Lottie Swan of Adrian, Michigan and Eugene (Joyce) Okonski of South Bend, Indiana. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel where funeral services will also be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Tony Slagle will be officiating.
