Louis Edward Rutledge Sr. November 14, 1946 July 4, 2009 Louis "Louie" Edward Rutledge Sr., 62, of South 13th Street in Niles passed away at his home on July 4, 2009. Louie was born on November 14, 1946 in Plymouth Indiana. Shortly after birth Louie moved to Niles where he was a life long resident. At the age of 8 he was adopted by his loving parents Thomas and Mabel (Roberts) Rutledge. Louie graduated form Niles High School in 1966 and wed Connie Rutledge. Though their marriage ended after 18 years together they had 3 wonderful children. He had recently retired from Martins Supermarket. Louie worked as a Meat Department Manager and meat cutter for over 30 years before his retirement. Even though he was a hard worker Louie always found time for some Notre Dame Football and Basketball. Golf and NASCAR were always among his favorite things. He was a fan of Ryan Neuman and Jeff Gordon. He also raced pigeons and was a member of the Dowagiac Pigeon Racing Club He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mabel and siblings Thomas Rutledge Jr., John Little. Louis is survived by his children Louis Rutledge Jr. of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Sheri (Jeremy Blocher) Rutledge of Niles and Scott Rutledge of Niles, 4 grandchildren, siblings Fred (Linda) Leet of Niles, Lee Burnett of Keeler, Michigan, Mark Sprague of Coloma, Michigan, Linda Nichols of Irvine, California, Joanne Hubanks of North Carolina, Richard Pixley of Dowagiac, Michigan and a special nephew Thomas (Becky) Rutledge Jr. of Niles. A time to share thoughts and gather with the family will take place on Saturday, July 18 2009 from 2-5 pm at Brown Funeral Home. Louie has been cremated and a private burial will take place at Sumnerville Cemetery in Pokagon Township, Michigan.
