Obituary of James Werblow

James "Jimmy" E. Werblow, 61, of Niles, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends, on Saturday, January 23, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 14, 1948 in North Bend, Nebraska to the late Morgan and Ruth (Bruner) Werblow. After graduating high school, Jimmy served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. On May 17, 1969 he married LuAnn Machovec at a ceremony in Wahoo, Nebraska. Jimmy was the chief maintenance supervisor at NCP Coatings in Niles, where he worked for over 38 years. He was an A & P licensed mechanic, allowing him to work on the company airplane, which was a joy of his life. Jimmy was a classic "Mr. Fix It". He also was devoted to helping roast hogs for several local charities. Jimmy was a member of the Niles American Legion Post 26 where he served many different positions and a member of the Niles FOP. Family and friends could always depend on Jimmy for anything. Jimmy is survived by his wife LuAnn Werblow of Niles, two daughters; Wendy Werblow of Fishers, Indiana and Stephanie (Kenneth) Couch of Muncie, Indiana, two grandchildren Ethan and Aubrey Couch, a sister Wanda (Ronnie) Halverson of Gretna, Nebraska, a step-mother Vernelle Karsk-Werblow of Fremont, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Brown Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. A reception celebrating Jimmy's life will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 5:30 pm at the NCP Coatings Airport Hanger at the Niles Airport at 2018 Lake Street in Niles.
