I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing, I am sure he fought his cancer as hard as he worked and played in our younger days. I am sure he is without pain now and I pray that the pain of his passing will lessen with time and your memories of all the good time will comfort you. My prayers are with you all.

Many great memories. Mostly when we were young in Nebraska. Always laughing, Jim's cool cars, the worry of Viet Nam and that great smile.

Dear Luann & Family:
Every now and then, Jan and I hook up with Bob & Jeanne Dalheim and
sooner or later, a story with 'Werblow' is shared. Sometimes the
'chuckles' turn into downright laughing with tears. Those "American Graffiti" days were the best . . lots of fun shared with great friends. We called ourselves the 'Gallant
Youth of North Bend' and we worked on everything from 2 wheel mini bikes and lawn mowers to fast cars with big engines. I was remembering his 'initiation' as a welder at North Bend's trailer factory. He left for break and his coworkers welded his tools and belt to the frame. I also remember the cold winter day the two of us went rabbit hunting. All day we walked in the cold, searching for those rabbits . .nothing!! I dropped him off at his house (we only lived a couple blocks apart) and almost immediately I heard a gunshot!! I went back and asked him what happened. He said he was so mad we hadn't seen a rabbit all day and , as he was going into the house (on main street I might add), he saw one so he shot it!!
As an example of our great friendship, I remember telling Jan that we would have to move our wedding date May 31) as my good friend, Jim. had asked me to be in his wedding and it was the same day as ours was scheduled. I believe he had the opportunity to come home on leave so it was the 'best time' for Jim and Luann to tie the knot. Jan said, "are you crazy, our invitations are ordered, the band, reception hall, food, etc. was all reserved . . not going to happen!!" As luck would have it, Jim and Luann had a double wedding with Luann's cousin on May 17th, and I was thrilled and honored to be a part of it.
Did we keep in touch as much as we should have? Not by a long shot! Will there be a time that 'the gang' will be together and we won't remember him? Never! Will I look back on those days and smile? Always (and probably with a few tears, too). We will remember Jim in our thoughts and prayers, Luann, and rest assured you and your family will be there too! Many people go through life without a true grade school and high school friend. I can say I had the BEST FRIEND one could have in North Bend. Jim was always there when you needed a hand to help. He was a perfectionist, especially when he took care of his cars. From a member of the Gallant Youth of North Bend!
Sending our love, Rick & Jan

LuAnn and Family,
Living in Nebraska we didn't get to see Jim all that often. We remember the last time we saw him he was courageously battling cancer, but still funny and full of life. When there is no hope for recovery, it's time to let them go. His suffering is over and he is in a better place. He will be missed by all of us.

What can I say about Jim, you just never knew what was behind that ornery grin. Married for 40 years, two beautiful daughters and a grandpa, I say he lived life to the fullest. Let's all remember his great spirit and zest for life. Steve and I wish you strength in the coming days. Your Cousin Mary Beth and Steve

Wanda Halvorson is Jim's only sister and my Mother-in law. After arriving late last night to our home and after many sad tears she was able to remember that Jim would always make goofy faces for pictures. Sure enough in our wedding album there was Uncle Jim and it was as if he knew we needed a laugh,a lift just about then....
On behalf of the Wanda Halvorson family.
We were so close yet so far...
Memories are forever,
you are forever with us

Jimmy was a great friend and coworker to my dad, which is how I met him. Every time I visited my parents, I would go out with my dad and Jimmy would always meet us. He always made me laugh and I will miss him greatly.

God speed Jimmy, the greatest neighbor one could ever ask for. I could always count on him for a cold beer and a friendly conversation in the 30 or so years I have known him. Jimmy, look up my Dad and tell him hello for me. You will truly missed. God bless.
