I met Ed Jackson while working at the corporate office of Marshalls in 1981. He often called me when the accounting department would deny his expense report submission for larger cars, which Ed required since he was so tall that the seats in mid-size cars would never go back far enough so that he could safely move his foot between the gas and brake pedal. I was a payroll clerk for the security department and because I didn't normally handle employee's expense issues, my little speech always sounded fresh and would win-over the accounting person on the phone. The result being that Ed always got reimbursed for the car he had rented.
Ed was a Regional Director and I was a payroll clerk that he did not have to deal with if he didn't want to. But he always called to say hello or wish me a happy holiday. He even called to offer a prayer when I was in anguish over a bad situation at work. And that was long before he joined his beloved church.
Ed always had a good heart. He sought out friendships with people from every walk in life - never placing himself above anyone else. He never whined or complained about anything. But would patiently listen to the problems of others when they needed someone to talk to.
Karen, my prayer for you is that you have peace of mind and comfort in the knowledge that you and Ed will be together again. But next time your life together will be the real everlasting life that God intends for His children.

Harvey Burnett: It is an honor to have known Ed. He was a good friend and family member of our Buchanan Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ed was active in our church and cared about the people and message. Ed was there for me in some tough times which will never be forgotten. I recall Ed being full of life, intelligent, high leadership ability, mentor, and most of all, a loving husband. He had a gentle spirit about him which was a special gift from above. Ed would always ask how my children were doing which, as a father, provided encouragement to press on as a young father. I am glad to have been blessed by our heavenly Father to have known him and look forward to seeing him again when Christ returns someday very soon. My prayers are for you Karen. There are no words that I can say, except to focus on the promise and hope that you will be reunited with Ed again, and never again to be separated by death. Enjoy the the experiences you had with Ed and savor them within your heart. I love you brotrher Ed and miss you! May our Father in heaven send His Spirit upon you Karen and the rest of the Jackson family and provide you with peace, strength, renewed hope, and blessings at this time.
Yours In Christ,
Harvey, Joshua, Micaela, and Rebekah

Ed was a dear friend of mine. We kept in touch as we moved though life. We met during our work at Zayre Department stores around 30 years ago. Both of us were in Loss Prevention and shared the same interest in all forms of this field. We even competed for the same position at times. He was a good man and a good friend. We moved on and both took positions at Wal-Mart and had a great time, he then was my Supervisor and we kicked some butt during our partnership there. We communicated on Facebook recently and all seemed well. I will miss him so much. "He was my friend"

Ed Jackson and I met in 1996 when he interviewed me for a position as one of his Loss Prevention associates. I told Ed that I could not accept any pay lower than $7.00 an hour. Ed looked at me, he frowned, then began shaking his head no to me. He sat up in his chair and leaned towards me and said, "Seven dollars!? I'm sorry Frank but we just can't do that." My heart sank because I knew anything lower than that amount and I would not be able to pay my bills. Ed then continued to speak... "Frank, both Wal-Mart and I just coudn't justify paying you seven dollars an hour. How does eight fifty an hour sound?" Ed looked at me with a straight face as he spoke knowing damn well my reaction! Ofcourse I was surprised, happy, delighted, astonished. Ed only laughed after the realization had hit me. Ed always kept a straight face telling his jokes. I learned this about him over the years that followed. There are dozens of memories I have of Ed jackson. However, this one, this first impression, is the one I like the most. Ed Jackson, you are an amazing person. I will always be grateful to you and I shall miss you.
your friend,
Frank
