My sincere sympathy to the family. I enjoyed a lot of years with Gene, Charley & Frankie at the ASARCO plant in Amarillo. Gene's personality & especially his sense of humor would always life my spirits when we were working on the same goal. I'll certainly have all of you in my prayers.

I remember when I spend the summer (1963) with Aunt Maggie in Niles. Gene was so much fun to be around. He always had a funny remark about any situation good or bad. He was always "larger than life" and would brighten up the room when he came in. I remember riding with him and he had to go by the police department to get wherever he was going because he didn't want to miss the opportunity to squeal his tires and burn rubber as he went by. He would just laugh when the policemen out front would stare at him flying by. This was Gene, if he was not suppose to do something, that is exactly what he would do (in a fun way).
He would come down to Cleveland, TN, with Aunt Maggie every year on vacation and you would have thought movie stars were coming because all us cousins would be so excited to see Aunt Maggie, Charles, Kat, Gene and Frankie. He would always come in singing the song "Mule Train" in which was a popular song at that time. (Look that song up, he would yell "ye haw" when that part of the song came up and we would all laugh).
I called him from time to time and he spoke loving of you kids. He was so proud of all of you.
I will miss our conversations and the laughter that we shared talking about the past and the present.
God be with you during this difficult time and always remember the love he left behind.
His cousin,
Patsy
