Obituary of David Lee Bullens

David Lee Bullens, 37, of Battle Creek, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 25th, 2011 following an accident. He was born on July 3, 1973 in Lexington, Kentucky to Curtis L. and Ruth Ann (Guest) Bullens. David married, the love of his life, Amy Lassetter at a ceremony on May 22, 1993 in Lexington, Kentucky. A daughter Brittany was born to the couple and she was always daddy's little girl. He was always a hard worker and began his trade, working alongside his father, at a very young age. David was a journeyman concrete finisher and owned and operated Bullens Concrete Construction for several years. David was also a master at construction and believed in doing things right the first time. David was a devoted member of The Potter's House Church in Battle Creek. He was called, at a young age, to preach the gospel and was known as a true servant. He was always "glad" to go to the house of the Lord. Dave loved helping others and being their "on-call" guy. He enjoyed taking drives, fishing, playing card games, yahtzee and was a great storyteller. David had a contagious award winning smile and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his father Curtis L. Bullens in 1992. David is survived by his wife Amy Bullens of Battle Creek, his daughter Brittany Bullens of Battle Creek, his mother Ruth Ann Bullens-Heberlin of Lexington, Kentucky, three sisters; Donna Faye (Steve) Peterson of Lexington, Kentucky, Debra K. (Marvin) Burton of Richmond, Kentucky and Sherry Lynn (Dan) Davis of Ohio, a brother Dennis Ray Bullens of Eddyville, Kentucky, his wife's parents Rev. John Stuart and Nancy Lassetter, two sister-in-laws Carrie (Braden) Reeves of Clinton, Mississippi and Anne (Richard) Homrich of Mattawan, Michigan a special Uncle Rev. William (Sherry) McGraw of Lexington, Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Potters House Church, 226 Capital Ave. NE in Battle Creek. Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Hopper officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the church to assist his family.
