Obituary of Nancy Jo Nimtz

Nancy Jo Nimtz (Larson, Merimonti), age 78 years of Niles, Michigan, unexpectedly went to be with her Lord and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

 

Nancy was born on September 26, 1944 in River Falls, Wisconsin to George (Dugan) Charles Larson, Jr. and Eunice (Walton) Larson. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, George (Butch) Charles Larson III. Brother and sister-in laws Walter and Bette Jann & Jerry and Sharon Probst.

 

Nancy graduated from River Falls High School Class of 1962 and attended the University of Wisconsin in River Falls, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Supervision and Curriculum Design, in 1966. She received her Master of Science in Education at the University of Wisconsin: River Falls in 1976. Nancy dedicated more than two decades as an Administrator to Niles Community Schools.  After retiring from Niles Community Schools, she worked at Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation as the Assistant Superintendent. While working at Penn-Harris-Madison, she graduated with a degree in Ed. Administration from Indiana State University with the Class of 2009.

 

Nancy was an active member of the Niles New Journey United Methodist Church in Niles where she led women’s bible study, worked on the Altar Guild doing beautification projects in the Sanctuary and sang in the church choir.  She was a member of the Niles Garden Club and Niles Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Her passion in life was Quilting, Sewing, Crafting, Shopping, and Traveling.  Nancy and Earl enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Canadian Lakes, Michigan with their beloved dogs. Her greatest joys were being a Nana and her family.

 

On December 29, 1984 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church she married Earl Robert Nimtz, in a beautiful evening Christmas service; they celebrated their thirty-eighth wedding anniversary this past December.

 

Surviving family members include her loving husband, Earl, son and daughter-in-law JJ Antonio Merimonti & Keely (Twibell) Merimonti of South Bend, Indiana; her “girls” Sherri (& David) Wuischpard of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Christine (& Michael) Hilfinger of Richmond, Texas.  She was the precious Nana to Alexander Wuischpard, Lauren (& Skyler) Cavitt, Peyton Hilfinger and Parker Hilfinger.  Nancy’s Siblings, Cinda (& Randy) Hohler of North Hudson, Wisconsin, Jim Larson of River Falls, Wisconsin and Jane Larson of River Falls, Wisconsin; Brother and Sister in-laws Donald (& Cindy) Nimtz, Robert Nimtz, Shirley Nimtz of Niles, Michigan and Sue (& David) Lint of Oldsmar, Florida; several nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews and dear friends of her Quilting Clubs, Church & Community Schools family.

 

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
