Obituary of Edward Jay Heston

Edward J. Heston, 77, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Spectrum Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was born on February 25, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Edward J. Jr. and Kathryn (Glentzer) Heston. Edward was a graduate of Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana. He furthered his education through vocational training where he became an electrician. He worked for many years at the former Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan, Welsh & Sons Electric and French Paper Mill in Niles. Edward enjoyed collecting coins, watching NASCAR and trips to the Indy 500. Edward also was an amazing Christmas tree farmer and was known to trim the branches by hand. He also looked forward to cheering on Notre Dame. On July 21, 1962, Edward married Patricia Rink at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald and Michael Heston. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Heston of Niles; three sons, Mark (Linda) Heston of Haslett, Michigan, Paul (Erin) Heston of Sewell, New Jersey and Charles “Chuck” Heston of South Bend, Indiana; a brother Donald (Dana) Heston of Florida; a sister Beverly (Tom) Tajkowski of Osceola, Indiana; four grandchildren, Erika, Shane, Megan and Adam and one great-grandson, Reid. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Niles from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation on hour prior with Father Christian Johnston officiating. An interment will be held at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made in Edwards’ memory to St. Mary Catholic Church at 219 S. State Street, Niles, Michigan 49120. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.
