Condolences to Max and the entire Brown family. Warren was special. He was one of those friends who, just by being themselves, taught you things and enriched your life. So fortunate to have known him for the past forty-seven years. Paul and Mary

Sending our condolences to Maxine and family. The meaning of friendship was defined by Warren with an instant handshake and greeting as well as the great conversations of his experiences with Maxine. Amazing achievements I should add. He also welcomed you to the geocaching world when you arrived at their TB hotel or just caching in their area...he did a search for us and said while you are here let's go and get a couple of challenges you qualify for, and we did. The gga team will miss him. With sincere sympathy, George and Gail

Maxine, we're so sorry to hear of Warren's passing. The two of you made such a perfect geocaching team. During the times we've visited with the two of you, we heard a lot of stories of your adventures and accomplishments - things that we know you will cherish - and we know that you will very much miss his warmth, friendliness, generosity and enthusiasm. We will, as well, as visits with you two were such enjoyable and memorable times for us. You are in our prayers - may the Lord give comfort to you and your family.

Warren was one of the first geocachers I ever met back when I first started the hobby back in 2005. His passion for geocaching was instantly infectious. He and Maxine hosted the first event I ever attended at Fernwood Gardens. I couldn't ask for a better introduction to the social aspects of geocaching. Always enjoyed crossing paths with him at events and the occasional pontoon ride down the river. I'm going to miss hearing his stories at events the most. While some geocachers have a tendency to re-share some of the same tales over and over (myself included I'm sure), I never heard the same one twice from Warren. Sometimes it was an incredible tale of helping to meet a travel bug or coin meet its goal. Other times it was a story of just one incredible geocache from one of his many adventures. Many had a quite humorous take to them. He almost always had a great new one to share and inspire others. And whenever I had a trip in the works, he usually had some great recommendations for caches to check out along the way. His challenge geocaches are some of the most incredibly inventive and challenging I've seen anywhere. I'm pretty sure he's single handedly responsible for so many people in this area being addicted to county collecting with those challenges. I'll think of him every time I go on a county collecting run.
The geocaching community in southwest Michigan has lost a true pillar. Rest in Peace Warren. My thoughts are with you Maxine, and the rest of the Brown family.

Dear Maxine and family of Warren Brown,
The world has lost a fine person way too soon. We also met Warren and Maxine through the family of Geocaching, and gained instant fast, though sometimes infrequent, friends. We always loved it whenever our paths happened to cross, usually at the Travel Bug Tent at a Geocaching Event.
Please accept our deepest, sincere condolences. We will keep his memory alive by remembering him every time we go Geocaching or look at our travel bugs and geocoins. He helped to instill a love of those things for us. We're sure he is volunteering at the biggest travel bug tent ever.
May his light shine forever.
Ron & Lois Reist

One of the best things about Geocaching is the community of friends you make from around the world. Having been a geocacher for 15+ years, some people stand out and have made an impression on me.
Warren & Maxine are two such people. I can’t quite remember the first time I met this special couple. Perhaps at the travel bug booth at Geowoodstock 4 near Dallas, Texas back in May 2006. I would have been 17 years old.
To this day, when I think of travel bugs, I think of Warren & Maxine. It doesn’t matter where I am in the country, chances are high that I will find at least one Trackable at a travel bug hotel that has a Maxb on the River Geocaching Tours card attached, meaning Warren & Maxine has moved it along at some point.
On their property in Niles, Michigan sits “BIG Orange Travel Bug Convention Center” (GCK8ZV). Since it was published in August 2004, over 28,000 trackables have been given five-star accommodations on their travels. But it doesn’t stop there. Warren & Maxine are some of the most hospitable people I know for traveling geocachers.
I first had the opportunity to visit ‘Big Orange’ in 2009 while on a roadtrip with friends. They offered a place to stay, which we unfortunately couldn’t do because of time. But fast-forward to July 2014, shortly after my wife & I got married, we made the time to visit ‘Big Orange’, and stay the night.
Warren was so passionate about geocaching, and it’s infectious. I became excited about county caching because of him. Warren eagerly offered to be our tour guide to nearby Michigan counties when we stayed with them. We did the same when they passed through Tennessee in 2019.
Warren & Maxine have known me through graduating highschool, and college. They watched the live stream of my then girlfriend & I getting engaged, and later married. And most recently got to share in the joy of bringing our son into the world.
I will always remember Warren’s friendship. He would not want us to be sad, but to cherish the time and adventures we have with one another. My future county caching roadtrips will be dedicated to Warren (MaxB on the River) Brown.

I feel so lucky to have spent a day with Warren and Maxine in July. When I went to Mid West Geobash in Ohio I had signed some of their geocaching challenges on one day expecting to go back the next to sign some more. They sent me a message asking me if I was coming back as they wanted to drive me around to all the caches to make sure I found them all. They were on their way home from (I think) West Virginia as one of the caches in a county they had found had switched to another county when a tool we use to track this did an update - so they needed to fill it back in. The timing worked out great and I spent the whole afternoon with them enjoying some time at Big Orange (which is a large drum they found floating down the river by their house - and they dragged it up and cleaned it out for a Travel Bug hotel) trading Travel Bugs and their process (while he was traveling he wanted a way to know which Travel Bugs he had already had in his possession - so he started marking them with a tag), getting a tour of their home town as well as signed a slew of geocaches. Warren told me about his travels around the country while working - I was amazed how they filled the entire lower 48 + Hawaii. He will be missed by many.

Thank you for visiting with Warren and our family. As you know, Warren was always telling stories about your friendship or the situation where you were talking, even if he had just met you. Please add either a story about you and Warren or if you are remembering one of stories he told that brightened your day. These will brighten our days as well.
Go Blue!!
Love Maxine

I feel fortunate to have met Warren. I remember first meeting him at a geocaching event in Niles as Mandy and I were heading out to visit my family in Cleveland. He was quick with a story and his friendly manner captured your attention. I am very grateful Sheila and I were able to spend some time with Warren and Maxine this summer and do some caching together.

I met Warren through Geocaching, first through events and then we realized our common interests including band. I am grateful to have known him well enough to call him my friend. My heart breaks for Maxine, his children, and his grandchildren, but know he lived a full life and wasted no opportunities. Should we all be so lucky.
