Obituary of Lesley Allan Hively

Lesley Allan Hively, age 63, of Weaver Road, Niles, Michigan died unexpectedly on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
He was born August 11, 1949 in Paw Paw, Michigan to the late Lewis A. & Bertha Mae (Dine) Hively.
Les attended Granger Community Church and worked for Towne Air Freight for 15 years. He was previously employed by AG Trucking for over 20 years. Les was an active volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years. For the past five years he enjoyed serving with his great-grandson, Zaynne Wiesman, Pack # 735. The Pack knew him as "Grandpa Les." He was an active member of the Michiana Corvette Club and a former member of Amarillo Star Line-Dance Club. He was a plane and train hobbyist but most importantly, he took care of his family.
On September 17, 1983 in Niles he married the former Sandra K. Sodeman, she survives. He is also survived by son Joshua Allan Hively of South Bend, stepson Brett Alan (Rhonda Favor) Irving of Mount Shasta, California stepdaughters; Tamara K. (Kris Tubbs) Lamb-Mentor of Bristol, Indiana, Brenda J. (Jeff) Carpenter of Shipshewana, Indiana and Ronda J. (Joseph Checkley) Pierucki of Edwardsburg, Michigan, grandchildren; Huntington S., Skyler J. and Buchanan S. Carpenter, Tara N. (Brent L. Kline) Stears, Casandra A. (Jeb W. Stewart) Pierucki, Mitchell D. Pierucki, John D. Music, Toni J. (Matthew C.) Bachman, Breanne R. (Justin G. Boggs) Irving and Brett Aaron Irving, great-grandchildren; Brice L. Kline, Zaynne L. Wiesman and Jax L. Kline, Zachary T. Music, Caydance E.R. Bachman, twins Madison K. & Mackienzie A. Boggs and Abigail L. Boggs. He is also survived by a brother Stanley B. Hively of Niles and a sister Karen S. Kroboth of Dowagiac and several nieces and nephews. In addition, he will be truly and greatly missed by all, especially by his "Best Dog Ever," Molly.
In addition to his parents Les was preceded in death by his grandson Forrester R. Carpenter, twin granddaughters McKenzie C. and Chandler M. Carpenter, and sister Deborah K. Skalla.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main Street in Niles, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5th at 11a.m. at Calvary Bible Church, 27032 Marcellus Highway in Dowagiac, Pastor Robert Vickroy officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. A luncheon will be provided, following the committal, at the church.
