Les, we will miss you so very much. I remember all our days of you and Sandy and all of our bunch dancing, laughing, carrying on! Now it's time to carry on while you watch from above....Sandy, keep strong...I know you will. Guess it's my turn to share my dance partner with you! You were always so sweet to let me dance with Les when I didn't have a partner....Love you both/1

I have to many memories to list that involve gramps Hively but the best ones involve planes, trains, and automobiles. Shooting off rockets and fireworks are still vivid memories of mine. Playing with his train set in the basement seems like it was not that long ago. Going to airplane shows and nascar races were always a blast.
Gramps even made it out to Los Angeles to visit me for my birthday when I turned 22. I'm glad he was able to make it out, he was the last family member to celebrate a birthday dinner with me since I left Indiana at the age of 19.
I feel like a lot of my hobbies and interests from a young age were brought about by him. Im thankful that I lived close enough that I got to spend a lot of time with him. Gramps, Josh, and me....there are a ton of memories with that trio that I will never forget.
Hey Josh do you remember that one time Gramps was flying that remote control airplane I had gotten for my birthday? It nose dived over the hill and we thought it was a goner but gramps kept at the controls and just like in the movies it screamed up over the edge of the hill coming right for us! It ended up hitting the fence but it was already beyond cool at that point hahaha.
I'm thankful I got to make it home for this past christmas and my sisters open house this past june. I got one last christmas with gram and gramps Hively like I always remember from my childhood.
The last piece of advice I remember from him was to "Keep thinking outside of the box, that's a good thing." That's what he told me when I was catching him up on my current projects and I still am Gramps :)
Love you,
Hunt

I was fortunate to meet Les two years ago as one of his vendors. Les was as gentle and kind as he was big. He was exact on what he needed and what he expected but delivered his message with care.
He always made extra time for me to go grab a bite to eat even though he had tons of work to do. He spoke about the joy fishing with his grandson brought him. I knew after I met him that this was a special man. Although my intearctions were limited he was a customer that I always would love to see.
I drove away from Indianapolis two weeks ago after a meeting with Les with a sad void and now I understand why.
Les Hively a true man for others!

My deepest sympathy goes to family and friends of Les! He was truly a great person. I've had the opportunity to work with Les several times over the last 2 years, sometimes in person, and sometimes over the phone. While we rolled our sleeves up many times to get work done, he always had a few minutes to make it personal. Last Friday on the phone it was about painting his rental, last month in person it was about his granddaughter..."the track star"! He even pulled out the newspaper article, and we were both a bit emotional about just talking about kids/grandkids (my first grand daughter was born in May). Boating, water, boy scouts, business, family, etc....he always had the time to make me feel welcome. I will be praying for your healing over the great loss.

As a recent addition to Towne Air Freight, I was fortunate to have Les teaching me the ropes. His knowledge was well established and much respected both within Towne Air Freight and the industry. I appreciated Les' patience and constant willingness to answer each question often with a "hands on" approach that reinforced the answer. He was a great person to work with as he had integrity and commitment to all that he did.
He was quick to share stories about his grandchildren. I enjoyed this greatly as well as discung our our shared interest in aviation. It was clear his family was important and a priority.
This sudden loss will leave a void at Towne Air Freight. We will miss him greatly.

I will miss my grandpa more than anything. He was always there for all of us grandchildren and a great grandpa at that. I will never forget the funny way he chewed or all the times he took videos. Im so thankful he was a part of my graduation open house because without him, I wouldn't have a video to remember it by. Without my grandpa I wouldnt have a lot of things I have today. I will remember him as a loving, caring person who always put others before himself. I cant believe he is gone but he was called to watch out over all of us as a guardian angel as we make our journeys through life. He will continue to love and look out for us, just like he did here on earth! Grandpa was an awesome man with tons of interests, all of which he will enjoy in heaven. Its a loss to all of us that he had to leave so early, but the times we did spend with him were ones well never forget.
Ill see you someday soon grandpa & I will explore Nashville just like you were with me and run every race knowing you are watching. I love you Grandpa Rest In Peace.
p.s. I hope heaven has a huge train set and an unlimited amount of corvettes. You deserve everything you ever wanted. The life you lived was a great one.

I just heard this very sad news about Les and still can't believe it's really true. Les was a wonderfull guy & we became very close friends the last 7 months that I worked for him. I loved His "dry" sense of humor as it alway's made me smile with some of the funny stuff he would come up with at work. I just sat in his office last Thurs. afternoon and we had a great conversation after I delivered the new Sprinter van from MSP. Les was a great boss and I was very proud to work for him relocating TAF Equip. all over the country. He treated me like I was family and I will never forget him. This is truly a big loss not only for his family but to any employee that know him at Towne Air Freight because Les was a very special guy. R.I.P.Les you were loved by all of us. Dave Young TAF / MSP

Feeling very sad and empty at the thought of life without my dad here on earth. Such a kind and loving gentle man. Always there to help anyone with anything. Always happy to see you! He loved us all so very much and showed us every chance he got! I love you and miss you Les with all my heart!
RIP I know you will be doing the same thing for all of us in heaven. You are the Angel by our side, reminding us to keep believing in brighter days, finding ways for our wishes & dreams to come true. Giving us strength and hope as you guide us along the roads we travel. There are tears but oh so many happy memories we made together and I am thankful to have had you for as long as we did! You made us so much more in every way! You have given us gifts that will never end and you will always be that sweet soul still watching over us in our thoughts and prayers pressing nearer to our side with a gentle helping glide as you are now truly our guardian angel in heaven. I love you!
