Richard A. Donleve, 74, of Niles, Michigan passed away at St. Vincent Hospice of Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family on Friday morning, March 20, 2020. He was born on March 26, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Austin Donleve and Ruth Evelyn (Dawson) Derry. After graduating high school, Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged on September 6, 1967. On April 15, 1967, Richard married Shirley A. Fisher at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He worked for IBM servicing computers for over twenty plus years. He then volunteered and was lat-er hired at Howard Elementary School teaching children math and reading. He found teaching was the most rewarding job. Hugs from the children he interacted with always made his day. Richard enjoyed time spent outdoors, mostly fishing. He looked forward to these adventures with his family and friends. He also was an amazing stained-glass artist. He created the beautiful win-dows at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cassopolis along with many other pieces. His interests were spending time with his family and helping family whenever they needed his assistance. He was preceded in death by his father, Austin Donleve; the parents that raised him, Ruth Evelyn and Melvin Derry; as well as a sister, Royce Murtha. Richard is survived by his wife of more than fifty-two years, Shirley Donleve of Niles; his daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Mangus of Niles, Kelly (Christopher) Low of Edwardsburg and Melody (Brian) Kuemin of Cassopolis; five grandchildren, Chelsea Mitschelen, Christopher Mangus, Courtney (Blake) Ertman, Casey Mangus and Laci Kring; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jaxon Mitschelen; two siblings, Sharon (David) Zettle of Columbia City, Indiana and Wesley (Mary Jo) Derry of Maitland, Florida and a brother-in-law, Jim Murtha of Rosedale, Maryland. There will be no public services at this time. Richard's family will plan a celebration of life at a different time.
