Sorry to here about Joseph passing. He did my hair when I was stationed in Hawaii. I asked where was he from in the states. He said shyly, "a small town in Michigan. I'm sure you've never heard of it." I said try me, because I am from Benton Harbor. The rest was history. I even know his dad and when Joe moved back to MI he did my hair when he was working in Fairplain. Such a small world. Rest well my friend until we meet again. Kim Easterling

Helene, my dear friend I just want to tell you how sorry I am for you for the loss of your son. I have never lost a child but the heartache I have for you right now is devastating. I know you are a soldier in Gods Army and we know all he is capable of, if we trust him. Trust in the Lord with all you have and he will see you through this. Don’t let go of Gods unchanging hand. Always keep Pookie’s memory with you. Both you and Joe cherish the memories. No one can take those. Love you, Dorothy

Joe began cutting my hair about 19 years ago, & over the many years we got to know each other & became friends. We had many good conversations & it seemed we could talk about anything. I do not personally know his family, but by the way he spoke of them, I could tell he loved them very much. I send my heartfelt condolences to them all. I last saw him in December & as I left, my last words to him were "I'll see you in the Spring." It breaks my heart now to know that I never will see him again. My dear friend Joe, you will be greatly missed.

Well Pookie, what do I say....I love you and I am going to miss you. I don't know life without you. But I know I must go on. Our last days together was difficult but I reflect on the good times we had. I think about Helene saying, "Pookie you and Kelly gonna get a whipping because we were always together." We laughed, we talked and you were not only my cousin we became friends. It's hard to say goodbye so I will just say...I will see you later. Kelly

Where do I begin Pookie as I called him all of my life you will be so missed. I remember how exciting it was when you would come home from Hawaii and do my hair. The many years after you would do my hair. The fun times we had the week I spent with you at your house. So many memories and I’ll always remember the good times. You are so loved and will be so missed. I’m praying for Helene And Joe so that in this time that God will comfort them. I love you cousin.
