I've been on Ancestry for a long time. I finally did my DNA. Russell was the first one to contact me. I'm so sorry he passed. I never got to meet him, but we got to chat. I know he was a great guy. I remember getting into a very loud discussion with Russ about spark plugs and how they were arranged in his stock. He stated that he didn't like it and I stated "Why did you hire me? " He gave me a funny look and calmly said, "To do what you're doing " We laughed about that until the day he retired. I will miss you very much my friend. You had a heart of gold beneath your rough exterior.

The lake won't be the same without the big guy, sitting in his golf cart with Harvey at his side. Russell may have been tough on the outside but he was kind and caring on the inside. He kept an eye on all of us on the lake, anticipating our needs and ready to offer a solution. What will we do without him? God bless you, Russell!

I was so sad when hearing of Russ passing, I've known him for a long time, we went to school together. We meet up again years later, he had a band Bear country and later Enflight. Wow did we have a great time going and listening to the band. Karen, remember all the polka dancing we did? Boy i'm tried now just thinking of it !! Russ was a great guy as you all know and will be truly missed. Say hi for me in that glorious place we call Heaven.

We were blessed to have Russell as a friend and neighbor for 18 years. He was truly one of a kind with a great heart. Always there for us during the good and bad times.We loved him he'll be missed.

Russell was my mentor and more important, my friend. Upon becoming his neighbor a few years ago, Russell took me under his wing and tried his best to teach me life on the lake. We bantered back and forth constantly even though I knew he was always right. After he helped me with an electrical problem, he told me I was one wire short of a full circuit. He continued that analogy each time I screwed up. His presence will always be there for me and I know he will be smiling when I once again hit my pier while attempting to park the pontoon boat. He was the skipper and I was his mate. Does that make me Gilligan? It was my honor to have known you. I will miss you buddy.

Please accept my condolences on Russ’s passing. He had serviced our boats and was an upstanding honest man to do business with. His humor will be missed, conversations will be missed, he will be missed. I at least hope he was able to use the rod and reel I gave him upon his retirement. Last we talked which was in the fall he still hadn’t. You will be missed Russ, Gods Speed to you and get some fishin in up above.
