Obituary for Mr. Floyd 'Sleepy" Bell

Floyd "Sleepy" Bell, 63, of Berrien Springs, Michigan, passed away, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at home with his family by his side.

He was born to the late Floyd and Annie (Wright) Bell on April 29, 1952. He is preceded in death by brother in-law’s; Harold Baber and Harold Pulliam, and great nephew, Juwan Stevens.

He worked as a machinist for Gast Manufacturing in Benton Harbor, for over forty-one years. In his spare time he enjoyed many sports but non better than softball, and bowling. He developed the nickname “Sleepy” by his softball teammates. He was a faithful Notre Dame football fan. Traveling with his wife across the country was something he loved to do, even if that meant getting lost on the way back. Floyd was full of jokes, fun and laughter. He was loved by many.

Floyd leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife of thirty-three years; Rheba A. (Williams) Bell, daughter; Shalonda Bell, son; Marcus Williams, Erik Robinson, and god-son Danum Hunt, brother's; Floyd (Vicky) Smith, Jeffery Bell, sister; Jonnie Mae Tucker, god-brother; Taryl Jones, four grand children, one great grand child, a host of nieces, nephews and in laws.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Floyd’s memory may do so to his family.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Brown Funeral Home from 6-8 O’clock in the Evening. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 12 O’clock in the Afternoon at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry St. Niles, Michigan 49120. Internment will take place following the service at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, 61453 M-51, Niles, Michigan 49120.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.
