Christopher S. Harrell, 34, of Mishawaka, formerly of Niles, passed away at his residence, suddenly, but of natural causes, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. He was born on July 1, 1979 in Leonardtown, Maryland to Lewis and R. Ann (Stults) Harrell. He graduated from Niles High School class of 1997. He entered the U. S. Army in September of 1997, serving his country proudly as a Calvary Scout, during the Bosnian Conflict and was stationed for a time in Germany. Chris was highly decorated prior to his honorable discharge in 2000. His love of country never ceased and he quickly joined the U.S. Army National Guard. He was gifted in many areas, but his greatest passion was his time spent as a military contractor, where he loved traveling abroad. In his spare time he enjoyed the rodeo, fishing, playing soccer and baseball, and was an Oklahoma Sooners fan, watching funny movies and enjoyed working on cars. Chris was very close to his family and friends and enjoyed being a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin and uncle. Chris is survived by his father Lewis (Rachael) Harrell of Niles, his mother Ann (Mike) Rohyans of Mishawaka, a sister Amber S. Harrell of Niles, step siblings; Jeremy Rohyans of Mishawaka, Brooke (Jason) Henry of Mishawaka, Alyssa Whitmeyer of Niles and Tyler Sterling of Niles, a nephew Collin Christopher Perkins of Niles, two nieces Ava Henry of Mishawaka and Kyra Bestle of Niles, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main Street in Niles, with a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be provided at the conclusion of the funeral by the Buchanan American Legion Post 51 and the U.S. Army. Following funeral services, a celebration of Chris' life will continue at the VFW Post 360, 1307 E. Jefferson Street in Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.
