Obituary of Dollie D. Matzat

Dollie D. Matzat, 71, of Niles, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 15, 2015, following a brief illness.
She was born on December 16, 1943 in Knox, Indiana to the late Chris and Pauline (Fisher) Ols.
Dollie graduated from Knox High School. On April 24, 1965 she wed Thomas H. Matzat at a ceremony in Knox. She worked for many years Toefco and most recently at Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo. Dollie enjoyed cooking and baking (especially at Christmastime), gardening and flowers. She most valued time spent with family. Dollie loved being a mother, grandmother and caring for her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Dollie is survived by her husband Thomas H. Matzat of Niles, a son Thomas (Debra) Matzat of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two daughters Dawn M. (Johnny) White of Culver, Indiana and Kimberly R. (Tim) Phillips of Niles, six grandchildren; Tyler and Trenton Phillips both of Niles, Alec Matzat of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Abigail Belcher of Culver, Indiana, John White of Culver, and Jessica White of Breman, a brother Paul Ols of Knox, Indiana, six sisters; Betty Hollandsworth of Valparaiso, Maryanne Schroeder of Michigan City, Patty Ols -Matzat, Jean Phistry, Joan and Jane Ols all of Knox, as well as a hosts of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Dollie's wishes, she will be remembered by her family privately.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to Riley Children's Hospital.
