Robert L. Eady, age 94, beloved husband, loving father and devoted grandfather, died at 12:45 pm, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Woodland Terrace in Niles. He was born in Detroit, and attended Highland Park High School in Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by his beloved second wife, Shirley M. Nutting Eady of South Bend, daughters Denise and Janice of Niles, and sons Robert (Claire) of Herndon, VA, Lynn Alan (Melanie) of Appleton, WI, Douglas (Dwayne) of Los Angeles, CA, and step daughter Diana Heighn of South Bend. He is also survived by loving grandchildren: Katherine (Rob) Laskey and Anne Marie of Herndon and Mitchell and Bennett of Appleton, as well as the expected October arrival of great-grandson, Elijah Robert Laskey, step grandchildren Bill (Becky) Harvey, Julia (Kasey) Harvey, Steven Harvey (deceased), and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his sweetheart and loving mother to his children Aileen, his parents Wilbur and Hattie Eady, and his brothers Tom and George Eady. George's wife Laverne Eady survives.
Robert and Aileen Eady were married April 19, 1942 at the Martha-Mary Chapel at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI. Following the death of Aileen, he married Shirley on May 17, 2009 at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in South Bend. Mr. Eady was a WWII Veteran and served proudly in the Navy aboard the USS Sawfish. He began his career at American Standard in Dearborn and later worked at Sundstrand Heat Transfer in Dowagiac, MI. He was active in the Elks Club, Rotary, was a board member of the Woodlands Behavioral Healthcare Network as well as being very active in the Christian Science Church.
Funeral services will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles, on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior. A reception will be held, following funeral services, at Orchard Hills Country Club in Niles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either of the following groups: Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 9601, Washington, DC 20090-6001 or Parkinson's Disease Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd. Suite B, Staten Island, N.Y. 10305.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.
