Your dad was one of my earliest models of adult kindness outside our family. The amazing thing about him was that he always went above and beyond when he found an opportunity to be kind, which he had a constant radar for. When I had moved to Boston as a very young adult, he came on a business trip. He didn't just look me up, he took me out to Legal Seafood for dinner - a wonderful restaurant beyond my means. I still remember sitting there, basking in the glow of warm light Bob always had around him, thinking, "This is the kind of thing I want to do, when I grow up." His example will stay with me. Bob was a legend of kindness in his own time.
