Obituary of Patricia Kay Hodgman

Patricia K. Hodgman, 62, of Kalamazoo, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday May 16, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Kalamazoo on September 27, 1950 to the late Lester W. and Lucille (Dalenberg) Miller. She was a 1968 graduate of Loy Norrix High School and attended Kalamazoo College. Patricia worked for the post office for over 30 years and retired a few years ago to care for her mother. She was always very active in both community and in her faith. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo where she served in many capacities including youth leader and deacon. She was also a fantastic tennis player and was an integral part of the establishment of the Hodgman Girls Tennis Team. Patricia was a devoted grandmother, giving much of time to her grandkids activities and schools. Patricia is survived by her two sons Cliff Hodgman of Kalamazoo and William (Megan Gates) Hodgman of Land-O-Lakes, Florida, three grandkids, who knew her affectionately as Bubba; Luke, Jacob and Dylan Hodgman all of Kalamazoo, and three brothers; Richard (Mary Jane) Miller of Lansing, Thomas (Sharon) Miller of Kalamazoo and Jerry (Heidi) Miller of Houston, Texas along with many nieces, nephew and friends. She will also be missed by her faithful companion, her dog Charlie. A time to celebrate Patricia's life will be held at 2p.m. on Friday, May 31st, 2013 at the Kalamazoo First Presbyterian Church at 321 West South Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan with Rev. Seth Wheeldryer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's memory to a charity of one's choice.
