Obituary of Walter Peterson

Walter "Pete" Peterson, 77, of Sister Lakes, passed away at his home, unexpectedly on Sunday, November 15, 2015. He was born December 28, 1937 in Chicago Illinois, son of Walter and Anna Peterson. Pete was a graduate of Dowagiac Union High School and served eight years in the Army Reserve. Pete was employed at Benton Harbor Engineering where he became a journeyman electrician, eventually retiring from Pemco in Bridgman. Pete always said he had a good life. He enjoyed simply sitting on his deck watching the birds and wildlife as much as he enjoyed his fall tours and travels. Pete held his family and friends as near and dear to his heart as they did him. He deeply appreciated, treasured and adhered to family values, quietly leading by example, choosing to do what was right, not what was easy. Left to cherish his memory are four daughters; Wendy Hall, Deborah (David) Hodges, Patricia Wilds, Rose (Chris) Chandler, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, chosen family member Bob Hall and loving friend and companion Marlene Pudell. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Anna Peterson, sister Betty Griffis, son Kevin Peterson, one grandchild, one great-grandchild and wife Darel Peterson. In keeping with Pete's wishes, cremation has taken place; a remembrance service will be held for Pete on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Sister Lakes Lions Club, 66991 95th Ave., Dowagiac, Michigan 49047 with family and friends gathering at One O'clock in the Afternoon.
