I just learned today that Lazarus had passed in 2015. When I lived in Southwest Lower Michigan Lazarus was an artist and art teacher in the Kalamazoo Michigan area, and I asked him to see his work. He invited me to his studio and we spent an entire afternoon looking at every piece of art he had there, unwrapping the brown paper from each one and exclaiming about what exhibit he had last shown it in. I ended up buying a half dozen pieces, and was going to return to buy two more (I still have the receipt about the other two, for which I put down deposits) but am now in Northern California so that never occurred. I cherish his memory and the art of his that I bought that day and still own is framed and hanging in my cottage. He was a wonderful man with such energy and delight in everything life offers, and encouraged me to become more creative with art and music and writing. He even showed me his exercise routine while seated on the floor and had me try it as well. He was an amazing and unforgettable man who I hope to see again one day when I cross over. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He blessed all who knew him by just being himself and setting that example for all of us.
