Michael Smiley, 58, of Dowagiac, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 with his wife by his side.
Michael was born on March 30, 1957 to Calvin and Marjorie (Eccleton) Smiley in Detroit, Michigan. After high school Michael went on to earn his Associates Degree from Southwestern Michigan College. He loved advancing his education and was always eager to learn a new skill. On July 21, 1984 Michael wed Jo Lyn Reid at a ceremony in Taylor, Michigan. He was an amazing man who lead by example, even through his illness he was comforting those around him.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie and is survived by his father, Calvin Smiley; wife, Jo Lyn Smiley of Dowagiac; children, Michelle (Tony) Sebastian of Plymouth, Michigan, Richard (Sara) Boc of Wyandotte, Michigan, Nicholas Smiley of Cassopolis and Joshua (Karen) Smiley of Sacramento, California; five grandchildren; one great grandson; and siblings, John (Judy) Smiley of Wixom, Michigan, Keith (Dorothy) Smiley of Wixom and Liz (Jim) Russo of New Hudson, Michigan.
