Charlotte Ann Omohundro, 73, previously of Sawyer, Michigan, and Evanston, Illinois, passed away at Woodland Terrace retirement home in Niles, Michigan, on May 25, 2013. Everywhere she lived, Charlotte was an active member of her community—from the PTA and Girl Scouts to garden clubs and the League of Women Voters. As a co-founder of Keep Evanston Beautiful she was an early promoter of ecology. Charlotte was born on August 27, 1939, to the late Arthur and Louise (Cucciardi) Johnson in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from South Shore High School Charlotte went on to attend the University of Chicago, where she earned a degree in early childhood education. On July 1, 1961, Charlotte wed Arthur Omohundro, a fellow U of C student, in the university chapel. Charlotte is survived by her husband Arthur of Niles, daughter Jeannie Wurz and granddaughter Katy Wurz of Bern, Switzerland, son Ted Omohundro and his wife Greta and sons Elliot and Watson of New Braunfels, Texas, brother Leonard Johnson and wife Jeanette of Virginia, and sister Nancy (Johnson) Jenks and husband Steve of West Virginia. Family and friends will celebrate Charlotte's life on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 North McCormick Blvd, Evanston.
