John will sadly be missed by all who knew him. My brothers and sister and I grew up as neighbors with him and his sister Gertie. John was very shy at first but my brothers got him to come out his she'll and from then on he was nicknamed "Mo"! Even at this sad time it brings back happy and very funny memories growing up with him. Once while playing in the creek on his property he didn't tell me they just bought a bull with a big ring in it's nose. While playing I suddenly heard a big snort and the ground was shaking and here comes the bull out of no where! I ran so fast and shimmed through the gate and to this day I can hear John laughing! You are one of God's angels in heaven looking out after all his children just like you did here on earth! Rest in Peace "Mo"

The years I spent working at Northside School were made so much more fun by having "Mr John" there to tease and visit with daily. His love of life and people was so evident, and especially for all of his "little friends". Our students in Head Start looked up to him as a wonderful role model and big friend, and were always excited when Mr. John would come to our room for a visit. They tried extra hard to keep the room clean, because Mr. John had made it so clean for them. He was one in a million, and will be greatly missed. My sympathy to his loved ones.

What a wonderful, caring man. John didn't consider Northside a school, but rather a home that required his love and care. More importantly were the young children's lives he touched with his kindness and compassion.

Mr. John was one of our Niles schools most beloved members. He was always cheerful, and would do anything he could to help. The students were always safe and comfortable with "Mr. John" in charge. He was a wonderful person, and will be missed.

Sorry to hear that Mr. John has passed away. I have been knowing Mr. John since Kindergarten at Central Elementary, which was located where the Niles Post Office and the high rise (next to the post office) sit today. He was always so kind to everyone and had that smile that made you smile if you weren't already! As I got older I saw him again by now he had that Blue Trans Am that I always asked if I could take it for a spin! And as years moved on still seeing him at the store with that smile he will be missed.

Mr. John had one of the kindest hearts of anyone I have known. It was obvious how much he cared for children. We would hear "Hello my friend!" all day long in the hallway at Northside. He would never hesitate to drop everything to help anyone. He will be greatly missed!

Mr. John was a great man. He wasn't great because he was rich or famous, he was great because he truly cared about others. If you needed something done you could guarantee that John would drop what he was working on and come help you with a smile on his face. His selfless and caring nature, that came so naturally to him, is something we should all aspire to. He meant so much to so many. A group of us even created burger night as an excuse to hang out with him after he retired. Mr. John, you will be greatly missed, but I can guarantee you will never be forgotten.

I spent many years working with John on a daily basis and always enjoyed talking with him and teasing him. John had a sweet spirit and cared deeply about taking care of his school and his kids - always ready with a cheery "Hi my friend" for each one of them. We lost a really good man with his passing. Goodbye my friend.
