Mike and I met at Domino's Pizza in the mid-eighties. Only a couple of years later, we opened Pizza Transit together in Niles, MI. What a time that was! We had big plans, and so much enthusiasm. Although my calling would later take me in new directions, Mike worked to keep Pizza Transit going and growing, and we kept in touch for many years afterwards, even into the new millenium. Though our paths subsequently went in different directions, and I would not learn of his passing until long after, the loss is still deeply felt, for we had been friends and companions traveling in sometimes desperate fashion through good times and bad on our way into a future neither of us could see clearly. Mike's departure leaves an empty place no other may occupy. Good-bye for now, my friend, perhaps we will meet again in another place, or another life.
