Obituary of Shirley Thurston

Shirley Jean Thurston, 69, of Niles, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Shirley was born on October 12, 1947, to the late Louis and Helen (Johnson) Thurston in Coloma, Michigan. After graduating from high school, she raised three children. Shirley went on to work at Hardee's. She was well known by many in the community for her cheery attitude and always having a smile on her face. After more than 20 years Shirley retired from Hardee's where she was affectionately known as "the drive thru lady". Shirley always found the joy in life. She was always smiling and happy, especially if she was with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her children, H. Renee Thurston of Niles, Kimberly (Robert) Greenlee of Harrison, Arkansas, and Charles Thurston of Harrison; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda (Pat) Cullitan of Texas, Bill (Kim) Thurston of Coloma, Robert (Michelle) Thurston of Coloma and Donna Thurston of Coloma; and many extended family members and close friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Niles District Library. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles at 2:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
