Mary Joe "Granny" Chambers, 68, of East 'T' Avenue in Scotts, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 surrounded by her loved ones, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mary Joe was born on March 30, 1939 in Jeffersonville, Kentucky to the late Herman and Viola (Wise) Profitt. On October 18, 1956 she married the love of her life, Merle Ray Chambers, at a ceremony in Hamilton, Ohio. She was retired from Borgess Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Apostolic Church for several years. Granny's hobbies and interests were cooking, baking, scrapbooking, gardening, shopping at Wal-Mart, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her specialty was loving people. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter Dannielle Blair Chambers, four brothers; Elbert, Frank, William and Lenox Profitt and four sisters; Mae Turley, Jane Robertson, Truie Turley and Effie Profitt. Granny is survived by two sons Roy (Myrna) Chambers of Vicksburg and Charlie (Shannon) Chambers of Vicksburg, two daughters Marcia (Wayne) Sage of Portage and Julia (Terry) Sage of Oshtemo, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers Walter (Libby) Profitt of Lexington, North Carolina and Huie (Marilyn) Profitt of Cincinnati, Ohio, four sisters; Margaret Williams of Logansport, Indiana, Ila (L.D.) Goodpaster of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Ruby Bairdo of Florida and Betty (Richard) Emmert of Cincinnati, Ohio.
