I worked with Mary Jo at Borgess and I also knew her lovely daughters Marcia and Julia. I just wanted to send you all a note to let you know what a wonderful person your Mom was and how many people she touched in her life. I am thinking of you all during this time of lost.

'Heaven Was Callin' Her Name'
In and out of sleep...,eyes rollin' now and then...,
Havin' trouble breathin'..., again and again...,
Her heart was givin' out..., her body shuttin' down...,
Soon her spirit would be risin'...,
And her soul starward bound...,
'Cause Heaven Was Callin' Her Name...,
Yes,Heaven was callin' her name...,
She was fightin' to hold on...,
Though all hope was gone...,
And Heaven Was Callin' Her Name.
We had no choice...,
Had to hang in to the end...,
Cancer was the demon...,
Could a miracle the angels send??
But it wasn't gonna happen...,
Her pressure was to low...,
Her mind was almost silent...,
And her pulse was oh so slow...,
'Cause Heaven Was Callin' Her Name...,
Yes,Heaven Was Callin' Her Name...,
She was fightin' to hold on...,
Though all hope was gone...,
And Heaven Was Callin' Her Name...,
Then Heaven..., Stopped Callin' Her Name.
Love You To!

Granny is such a perfect picture of love. From the first day I met her she became close to my heart. Never judgemental always encouraging. With a "Hey beautiful!" She always made me glow.
Some of my most enjoyable memories were with her and Merle. The times over to their house. Baby raccoons, baby squirrels, trampolines in the ground, mowed baseball fields. And all the best cookin' a person could eat.
Granny you will be missed. The Benoit clan loves you so much. May angels rejoice with you.
With much love,
Sister Chris

Our tough old bird
Our emotions are mixed on this glorious, terrible, wonderful day,
You see our tough old bird spread her wings & flew away.
We see the people smile & say, 'She's in a better place,'
But it doesn't mend our shattered heart or fill the empty space.
For this tough old bird was one of a kind,
Known for her loving, laughing & speaking her mind.
Granny's door was always open to anyone in need,
She'd smile & say, "Come on in! I got a whole mess of beans."
Granny was always herself—nothing more—nothing less,
She treated everyone alike—you never felt 2nd best.
Hands that were worn & calloused could pull you into the warmest hug,
But would also 'warm your britches' when you needed some tough love.
Those hard-working hands fit Granny to a 'T',
The outside was rough—but inside…gentle as could be.
At first glance she was loud, tough & would put you in your place,
But you soon found it was always done with love—never hate.
We laugh at the things only Granny would do,
Like when she ran a 'gossiper' from her house with her trusty old broom.
Then the chemo wracked her body & her hair fell to the ground,
But it never touched her spirit-she wouldn't let it get her down.
Granny loved her family so much—they were her world,
The only One she loved more gave His life for her.
When it came time—in true Granny fashion—she didn't ask—she TOLD,
"Quit praying for me! You need to let me go home."
As she arrived the doors to Heaven flung open & Jesus grinned,
He grabbed her in a hug & said, "Come on in!"
She recognized the faces of loved ones gone before,
But her eyes searched for the one that meant so much more.
Then she saw her Merle with his arms opened wide,
He wrapped her in a hug & said, "Welcome to the other side."
Our tough old bird has one final thought,
"Here now, listen to this," she starts out.
"Don't dwell on my death—dry up those tears!
Remember the love & all the laughter we shared thru the years.
And when your time comes to cross to the other side,
I'll be right there waiting—with a piece of my pie!
One more thing—hey Satan—you can 'get thee behind,'
I'm dancing on the streets—VICTORY TODAY IS MINE!"
