Joseph Shemiot, 65, of Dowagiac, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at New Orchard Grove Nursing Home in Benton Harbor.
Joseph Shemiot was born on July 30, 1948 in New York to the late Anthony and Lynn (Hickok) Shemiot.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son Tony Shemiot.
Joseph is survived by his wife Rose (Wegner) Shemiot, three sons; John Paul Shemiot of Dowagiac, Charley Shemiot of Detroit and Bod Shemiot of Detroit and a sister Michelle Shemiot of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He enjoyed playing chess, spending time on his sail boat on Lake Michigan and going to Las Vegas to gamble.
In keeping with Joseph's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.
