Obituary of Patti Hensley

Carolyn Patricia "Patti" (Owen) Hensley, 65, of Berrien Springs, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, following a lengthy battle with Huntington's disease. She was born on March 5, 1948 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Alfred L. and Phyllis E. (Glassburn) Owen. She worked for over 25 years as a clerk at Kmart in Niles. In her spare-time Patti enjoyed refinishing furniture, antiquing and was always very active. Patti's most precious time was spent with her family, where she was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Alfred L. Owen Jr. and three sisters; Callie J. Owen, Diane Owen and Pam Owen. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Hensley of Berrien Springs, a son Cary L. (Holly) Hensley of Eau Claire, her sisters; Judy (Sid) Hoover, Betty (John) Empson, Bev (Kevin) Krueger, Robin Rudlaff and Becky (Kenny) Hunt, a brother Randy (Kathy) Lausch, numerous nieces and nephews and a life-long friend Carolyn Grabowski. In keeping with Patti's wishes, she generously donated herself to continue research that would aide others fighting Huntington's disease. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Patti's life at Full Gospel Assembly Church; 4640 E. Snow Road, Berrien Springs on November 2, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. with a time of visitation afterwards. Memorial contributions may be made in Patti's memory to the Full Gospel Assembly Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
