Obituary of Donald Winter

Donald Harvey Winter, 80, of Sheridan Road in Niles, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 14, 2008 at his home with his family by his side. Donald was born on March 11, 1928 to the late Everett and Helene (Winckler) Winter in Detroit, Michigan. On June 18, 1949 Donald was wed to the love of his life, Phyllis Morgan at a ceremony in Detroit, Michigan. Together they had 4 children. Donald was retired from Clark Equipment Company after thirty two years of service. He enjoyed playing the drums both professionally and for the 686 Army Air Force Band during WWII. He also enjoyed all aspects of nature including gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels, and will be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis and a sister Carol Winter. Donald is survived by his one son, Donald Winter Jr. of Niles, three daughters, Lynn (Kenneth) Wisniewski of Niles, Sheryl Steiner of Phoenix, Arizona, and Betty Tacy of Mishawaka, Indiana, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In keeping with Donald's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday March 18, 2008 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Niles with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor William Dudgeon will be officiating.
