Obituary of Nellie Price

Nellie Julian Price September 5, 1926 April 6, 2008 Nellie J. Price, 81, of Sheridan Street in Niles, passed away at her home on Sunday, April 6, 2008. Nellie was born on September 5, 1926 to the late Henry and Minnie (Bauer) Herter in Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was one of 11 children growing up in the Herter household. After graduating high school she went on to attend business school. Nellie then wed the love of her life, D. Charles Price, at a ceremony in Dowagiac, Michigan on December 8, 1947. Together they had on son Daniel. Nellie was a committee member at the Niles Senior Center where she was very active. She also loved crafting, especially crocheting. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck, Son Daniel, grandson Tiger, Brothers Ernest and Victor Herter and Sister Violet Frese. Nellie is survived by Granddaughter Tammy (Keith Hazlegrove) Crawford of Dowagiac, 2 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great grand daughter and siblings Joe (Carol) Herter of Eau Claire, Linda (Morris) Burgett of Kalamazoo, Hettie (Gene) Taube of Tennessee, Les (Jo Ellen) Herter of Dowagiac, Donald (Diane) Herter of Dowagiac, Virginia (Ken) Hughes of Eauclaire and Phyllis (Bill) Reitz of Tennessee. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel in Niles. Nellie's funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10th at the Berrien Center Bible Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Maynard Schoen officiating. Nellie will be interred at the Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Mission. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services and Mission Hills Memorial Crematory, both of Niles.
