What a shock! Since I live 200 miles from the Niles/Buchanan area its been a long time since I last saw don. I have many fond memories however. The summer after graduating from Buchanan High School Don and I drove Don's car and went on a month long trip out west. We drove out along the northern route through Colorado, Yellowstone and finally San Francisco. Then south to Los Angeles, then through Arizona & Texas to New Orleans where we met several of our friends and stayed a week. What a time we had! Don was a great friend & companion, I'm sorry I missed his last days on this earth.

To Don's Family..
I'm so sorry to hear of Don's passing. We were friends from High School. Don was in our High School Dance Band and in our little Dixieland Band.
He went with a group of us to New Orleans in 1951 or 1952 where we got to see and hear many of the original pioneers in the jazz music that we all loved so much.
We made a recording with the Dixieland Band and I had it transferred to CD a couple of years ago and gave Don a copy. We were never very good, but we all really tried to play our horns well!
So, I have many fond memories of Don and all the good times we had together in the "good old days"! I stopped at Pleasure Pools every once in a while to say Hi and catch up with each other's lives.
I will miss him a lot.

Myself as well as many others were sorry to read Don's obituary. We were quite close in high school. We did a lot of "hanging out" together. Oh the parties we attended! With families and work we went separate ways and more or less lost track of each other even though a mere five miles separated us in later years. I did have lunch with Don with some of our old cronies a while back. We had a great time recalling old times.
Certainly sorry to hear of your loss and we share in your grief.
