I was good friends with Larry in Junior High and I did a lot of things with him. Recently I've communicated with him and was on his radio program. It is a shock and I know he will be dearly missed.

I work at Berrien County Health Department. Larry was an advocate for everyone here at the Health Department. Larry always said that the "Health Dept was the best kept secret in Berrien County".
He will be missed. My condolences go out to Larry's family.

I am Rafael Weiss, Brazil and listens to Radio WGTO the Internet. I had some opportunities to exchange email with Larry, a guy very good, knowledgeable of music and was very friendly with me by mail.
I hope that now, in heaven, he is well and find John Lennon, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and other big guys to take a beer for me with them.
Goodbye Larry!
Until one day!
My sympathy for the whole family!

Larry had me as a guest many times on his radio show, "Clymer's Corner," as the curator at the Courthouse Museum in Berrien Springs. I would bring in some topic of local history, and Larry and I would chew it over for the duration of the program. He had a great talent for drawing out material for the program and making it all sound good. He was always so gracious and friendly, ready with a laugh and a cup of coffee. I'll always remember Larry's coffee mug, which was about the size of a large beer keg. Even a casual acquaintance like myself would come away from Larry feeling like an old friend. Thanks for sharing him with us!

I send to you my heartfelt condolances to the family of Larry Clymer and pray that the Lord Jesus will ease your pain and grief in the loss of Larry.
Having went to school with Larry at East Side Elementary School, Central Elementary School (6th grade), Central Junior High School and finally Central High School I came to know and respect Larry very highly. We lost contact when I went into the U.S.Marine Corps in 1956, but I always heard from my younger brother that whenever he saw Larry he would ask about me.
Larry was a thoughtful and kind person who will be missed by all that knew him.

To the Family of Commissioner Larry Clymer~~
Although you are grieving now, soon you'll remember only the good things and grieve just a little less. You will wake many mornings temporarily forgetting he's gone. That's the time to remember. . he's still here. . he lives within you. He even lives within me, because he touched my life too and I will always remember the good man that Commissioner Clymer was and how he welcomed me to this community. Thank you for sharing him with us all. Diane

As a radio personality Larry was a PRO! His ability to interview a guest on the air was one to be absorbed and mimicked! I knew Larry while he was the host of "Clymers Corner" on WGTO 910AM. I had the privilege of producing his program on a number of occasions and will always remember his gift for putting his guest at ease and conducting an interview that left listeners informed and entertained. I am blessed for having worked with him.
Thank You Larry, you will not be forgotten my friend!!

Larry will always be in our hearts as he was our lives. Our neighbor, friend and all around father figure to us all. He was Santa to Mark. He would catch the fish, I would clean and cook them for us all. A dedicated husband, father and friend we can all learn from. We are deeply saddened, just someone you never think of leaving anytime soon. Our prayers are with you Jim and your family.

To the Clymer family...
To say we weere shocked and terribly sad to find out about Larry's passing is quite an understatement. I was in my studio at the Niles District Library following an interview with State Representative Neal Nitz when Tim Brown came in to tell both of us about Larry. Since we were both friends and colleagues we were extremely surprised.
For the following few minutes Neal and I spent time recounting all the ways in which Larry's life had interacted with ours. Obviously his work with the city of Niles and the county commission were all recalled.
I particularly want to mention how grateful I was and how much I enjoyed the periodic interviews Larry and I had on my last year at WNIL. He was responsible for bringing to "Gloria's Place" virtually every County official currently holding officeor and involved with current news-making events. From his fellow south county commissioners to John Miller, Chairman of the Potawatomee Tribe, they all came when invited by Larry. Their visits gave me and my listeners the opportunity to meet those movers and shackers who so oftern related more heavily to north county residants.
Larry and I were often on opposite sides of the political fence, but I always admired him and found myself using him as a role model as I became more and more involved with community service. Larry's shoes will be hard to fill. Whatever he did and wherever he walked, he left a large footptint. I fear his kind of leadership will not come around again soon.
Larry loved to "moonlight" behind a microphone and for a few months hosted his own talkshow on WGTO in Diwagiac. I was his first guest.
I was proud to have had the opportunity to know and work with Larry Clymer and will always consider him a good friend.
Dick joins me in sending our thoughts and prayers to all of you as you face the days ahead.
God Bless...
Gloria Cooper

The Niles Community and Berrien County have lost a dedicated public servant. He served with distinction as Mayor of Niles and most recently as Berrien County Commissioner. Larry always devoted himself to the public interest. I was honored to work with him on criminal justice issues during my time as a Berrien County Judge. Among many valuable contibutions, his work on the Juvenile Justice Task Force charted a new course for the county which will benefit youth for years to come. My deepest sympathy to his family at this difficult time.
