Frank Lorrie Hughes August 1, 1931 June 28, 2008 Frank Lorrie Hughes, 76, of Monroe Street in Niles, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Frank was born on August 1, 1931 to the late Walter D Sr. and Florence (Schroeder) Hughes in La Porte, Indiana. He was one of 13 children growing up in the busy Hughes household. After high school Frank wed Olive Foster on September 12, 1949. Together they had 4 children. Olive passed away in late 2001. Frank was a journeyman painter and owned his own business for many years until his retirement in 1996. He raised horses when his children were younger and could always be found watching the Cubs and Bears. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Olive, brothers Walt Jr., George, Willis, Pat and Gene Hughes and sisters Kate Weiser and Laura Skophammer. Frank is survived by his children Diane (Doug) Larson of Mishawaka, IN, Gary (Sheila Hensley) Hughes of Edwardsburg, MI, Dawn Wells of Dunlap, IN and Frank "Bud" Hughes Jr. of Niles, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and siblings Petie Clark, James (Pat) Hughes, Gwen (Pete) Banker, Alfred Hughes and Larry Hughes. Frank is also survived by his long time girlfriend Deanna Brown of Niles. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 to honor Frank's life at 5 pm at the First Church of God in Niles. Pastor Bob Jackson will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Niles.
