Obituary of Joyce Bultema

Joyce Ardith (Van Gieson) Bultema June 18, 1935 - July 10, 2008 Joyce Ardith Bultema, 78, of Watervliet, passed away at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center early on July 10, 2008. Joyce was born on June 18, 1935 to the late Wilber M. and Leona (Peters) Van Gieson in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was one of 6 children growing up in the Van Gieson household. After high school Joyce worked for Paw Paw Plating, DuWel of Hartford, Whirlpool Corporation and Modern Plastics of St. Joseph. When Joyce wasn't working she enjoyed taking care of her plants. She evolved in to pool, card games, dancing to Celine Dion and especially her plastic crafts and crocheting. Joyce always wanted to be around people, she loved the company and would talk to anyone that didn't mind listening to a good story. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Grace Viveros, Betty Peck and Virginia Dehaven. Joyce is survived by her children Jack (Kristy) Bultema of Benton Harbor, Jill Bultema of Watervliet, MI and Jean (Daniel) Heyboer of Watervliet, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brother Alan Brown of Detroit, MI and sister Carol Shawn of Yipsalanti, MI. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 11am at the Peace Lutheran Church of St. Joseph with a time of visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Rev. Franz J. Brandenburg will be officiating. Joyce will be inurned at North Shore Memory Gardens in the columbarium. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Niles and North Shore Memory Garden of Coloma.
