Bobby Kirby Sr. February 1, 1944 - July 12, 2008 Bobby Leroy Kirby Sr., 64, of Third Avenue in Dowagiac passed away at his home on Saturday, July 12, 2008 with his family by his side. Bobby was born on February 1, 1944 to the late Everett and Mary "Margaret" (Smith) Kirby in Mark Tree, Arkansas. He was one of 5 children growing up in the Kirby household. After school Bobby joined the United States Army Corp of Engineers where he proudly served for several years. On July 13, 1968 Bobby wed Sharon Allender at a ceremony in Anderson, Indiana. Together they had 3 wonderful children. Bobby loved stock car racing and fishing. His love for fishing led to He and Sharon opening their own bait shop in Dowagiac. Bobby's greatest love was driving his school bus. He drove for the Dowagiac Union School for over 17 years and took pride in the children's lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ivan Kirby Bobby is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 39 years, sons Bobby Jr. (Deena) Kirby of Cassopolis and Jonathan Kirby of Dowagiac, daughter Tonya (Christopher) Griggs of Dowagiac, 2 precious grandchildren Devin Kirby and Natasha "Bubbles" Griggs, brother Arvin Kirby of Anderson, IN, twin sister Peggy(Clifton) Perkins of Dowagiac and sister Wanda Wells of Memphis, TN. The family would like to thank Oncology care of St. Joseph, Dr. Eric Lester, Dr. Strayhorn and all of their staff, Nurse Kristina at Lakeland in Oncology, the staff at Lakeland Hospice of St. Joseph and a deep thank you to all the family and friends that have kept them in their thoughts and prayers. The family will be having a memorial service on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 4 pm at the Diamond Cove Missionary Church located at 22820 Diamond Cove Street in Cassopolis. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services and Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, both of Niles.
