Michael "Mike" James Van Gilder May 6, 1961 July 19, 2008 Michael "Mike" James Van Gilder, 47, of Hills Haven Road in Buchanan, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in Niles on Saturday, July 19, 2008 with his wife by his side. Mike was born in Niles to Ronald and Mae Jean (Schmoker) Van Gilder. He was one of two children in the Van Gilder household growing up. After high school Mike became an RV Technician and a Ryder Truck Specialist. On June 24, 1999 Mike wed Whitney Smith at a ceremony in Niles. Mike spent much of his time working on cars at his house. When he wasn't working on one car or another he could be found outdoors mowing his lawn or indoors watching one of his favorite soap operas He is preceded in death by his father. Mike is survived by his wife Whitney, mother Mae Jean Van Gilder of Niles, daughters Elizabeth Vanderboegh of East Lansing, MI, Regina Van Gilder of Niles, Victoria Van Gilder of Niles and Shayne Gee of Mishawaka, IN and brother Ronald "Tom" Van Gilder of Niles. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Hope Community Church in Niles at 2pm with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mike Smith will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Niles.
