Mom, give grandpa a big hug for the rest of us down here and thank you for making Dawn and I who we are today. You taught us to lead and not be the ones that follow. To stand proud of who were are with the friends and family that we keep and to give others a second chance when they are down on their luck and if nothing else open up our home and hearts for them. That when times are tough and two part times jobs are not enough that you get another one and put family and friends first. To do the best that we can every day to make someone smile and that once eye contact is made they are no longer a stranger. To be honest and true to yourself first and the rest will fall into place. I remember slow dancing with you when I was younger in the dining room and you let me have the stereo up as loud as it would go. The song was "Hello" by Lionle Richie. So this time it was you he was looking for and he could not have found a better person to take from us.

You taught us to live each day to the fullest extent possible and to thoroughly enjoy it. You never knew when it would be your last.
You taught me to NEVER sweat the petty thing & to Never pet the sweaty things either!!
If something interests you & you enjoy it, then go after it. Grab ahold of it and do so in very big way.
You taught me to always be honest, giving & sincere. If you are these things, it will take you a very long way on this road called life. To NEVER EVER be a liar, cheater, or a thief. Also, be true to your word and always give others a chance. "ALTHOUGH" if others hurt you & mess you over the following rules apply. First time, shame on them, Second time is shame on me, AND if you are one of the select few that make it to strike 3----LOOK OUT!!!!
You showed that I needed to learn a lot about a wide array of things. Therefore, it would enable me to converse with all types of people. In return I would not be snubbing my nose at people or thinking I was better than them either. To remember that no matter how bad things are for you or how bad you think you have----some one else ALWAYS has it worse.
You were my role model, teacher, confidante, source of inspiration, Mom, and you provided a TON of brightness to my days.
But most of all, you were MY VERY BEST FRIEND!!!!! We have laughed together, cried together, dreamed together and confided in each other. We talked to one another about everything and anything, with out secrets and lies. We have held each other when no one else would. Many times you have told others how close our relationship was and that you wished all mothers and daughters could be that way, so that they could know that type of joy.
I miss you so much already I can't hardly stand it. I am going to be so very lost with out you. I have already wanted to pick up the phone..Oh I am going to ask Mom this, or Oh I am going to tell Mom that. The littlest things that are so important that get over looked.
Don't you worry about me, I will be OK, as you have helped me to become a strong individual.

Retired police officer Wanda Babbs Kirst was a Damm good human being, period!!!
In being new to niles being a Gary in transfer to work the new radio station, Officer babbs made a traffic stop, checked my information out Issuerd a warning and was so personable to the point that she shared with me about the city being new and made an impression upon me which sold me to living in the 4 flags area!!
later on, when observing her dealing with the public in her roll as civil servant, she was fair, perofessional and was consistient with her treatment of the residents of Niles. I can honestly say that it would "urinate her off" that if she arrests a minorty, dont throw it up in her face because Im arrested because I am--Well, u know!!
Anyway, It was a shock to learn of her leaving and that she was a unique person who when created, they didnot make another like her, period for she did put the "P" in being "Personable"
Ms. Kirst would be sorely missed, Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its still so hard to believe that Wanda is gone. Just last week I saw her and she was in such good spirits. She had a passion for life and she lived it to the fullest, never forgetting to stop to pick someone up along the way. She was so proud to be a retired police officer. She loved teaching Water Aerobics. She frequently mentioned it when she came in to Jordan's. She was always so sweet...always commenting on how sweet I am and telling me how she thought the world of me... I just hope she knew I felt the same about her. She also shared her beautiful little doggy with the employees here at Jordan and just last week she was telling me how much she just adores her. The loss is hard to cope with, as I have grown close to Wanda since I have known her for a little over a year now. I can only imagine what her close friends and family feel through this tough time. My heart goes out to everyone who is mourning the loss of such a sweet wonderful person

Wanda wrote me such a wonderful letter when I was going thru the Police Academy of being a woman in Law Enforcement. It was supportive, caring and thoughtful~ all the qualities Wanda showed to many people. She will be missed. George & family you are in my thoughts.....

George we are so sorry for your loss. It just won't be the same without Wanda's beautiful smile around here on Pitcher Lake. We loved Wanda and will miss her so very much. Remember we are here for anything you may need.
