Genevieve Adale LaPorte, 78, of Cassopolis, passed away at her residence on Saturday 25, 2008 at 10:30 in the morning following an illness, surrounded by her family. Genevieve LaPorte was born on April 20, 1930 in Niles, Michigan to the late Homer and Eva (Fisher) Miller. On November 21, 1953 she married Fausto LaPorte at a ceremony in Berrien County. Genevieve is survived by four sons, Dan (Millie) LaPorte of Niles, Jerry (Sue) LaPorte of Fort Wayne, Mike (Jenny) LaPorte of Niles, and Phillip LaPorte of South Bend, IN, two daughters, June (Jim) Rothrock of Buchanan, MI, Cheryl Goskie of Cassopolis, thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Genevieve is preceded in death by her husband, Fausto LaPorte, three sons; David, Tony and Chris LaPorte, two daughters Renee Rangel and Marcella LaPorte, two sisters June Trapp and Mae Hydorn. She enjoyed watching classic TV, crocheting, and shopping. Genevieve was a machine operator for many years, working at various factories in the Niles area. She reluctantly retired at age 73 from SPI in South Bend. She was also an active member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. A committal service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the old chapel at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens 61453 M-51, Niles, Michigan.
