Obituary of Scott Long

Scott L. Long Sr., 82, of St. Joseph, passed away at his home on Wednesday morning, surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 23, 1926 in Benton Harbor to the late Albert and Kathryn (Austin) Long.
On October 30, 1943 Scott married Effie Jewell at a ceremony in Benton Harbor.
Scott was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He retired as a safety director from Modern Plastics Corporation where he worked nearly fifty years. Scott also had many hobbies including golfing, fishing, traveling, photography and flying.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Effie M. Long, which preceded him in death in May 2008, a daughter Constance Susan Kolberg, a brother John Long, three sisters; Julia Freeman, Emma Freeman and Kathleen Thar.
Scott is survived by a daughter Lois (Chuck) Cummings of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, a son Scott (Regina) Long Jr. of Benton Harbor, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters Jessica (Jesse) DeMay of Coloma, and Phoebe Woulfe of Hartford.
A funeral service will be held on Monday November 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at North Shore Memory Gardens Chapel with visitation one hour prior. An interment will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens.
