Obituary of Bruno D. Smoke

Please share a memory of Bruno to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bruno D. Smoke II July 26, 1935 November 28, 2008 Bruno D. Smoke, 73 of Broadway Street in Niles passed following a year-long battle with cancer in his family's home with his caring wife at his side. Bruno, more known as the "Martin's Deli Guy" enjoyed his work and loyal customers. He will be truly missed for that smiling face and free samples. His true passion was the art of fly fishing which he taught and shared with his family and friends. He was always at peace on the stream, where nothing could go wrong. He is the founder of the Dead Salmon Society, a gathering of fly fishers to continue on. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, whom he deeply loved, Jacqueline Smoke, who lovingly provided care throughout his life and illness…and by three children; Stacey Smoke, New Boston, MI; Dr. Steven (Brenda) Smoke, Buchanan, MI; Sondra (Mark) Banish, North Carolina. Known by four grandchildren; Brianne, Hunter, Mallorie, Reid and one great-grandchild Alisha as papa. One brother Hank (Theresa) Smoke, North Carolina. At Bruno's request an immediate cremation will take place. Arrangements are pending for a funeral mass to be offered at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Buchanan along with a memorial service. A final memorial to celebrate his life for family and friends will take place this spring at a special streamside place on Big Bear Creek where his presence will always be felt. He no longer suffers and will forever strive for that perfect cast, fishing alongside the Great Fishers of Men. Keep your lines tight Bruno and cast away.
