Obituary of Thomas Mallory

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Edwin Mallory, 57, of Canyon Lane in Granger passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2008. Tom was born on June 2, 1951 to Edwin E. "Ted" and Elsie Lee (Storer) Mallory in Akron, Ohio. He was one of four children raised in the Mallory household. On August 23, 1975 Tom wed Lin (Brehmer) Mallory, at a ceremony in Niles at the Wesley United Methodist Church where he was a member. As a student at Niles High School Tom was active in drama and athletics. After his graduation in 1969 he went on to attend the University of Michigan and then IUSB where he received his Bachelors degree in Physics. Tom worked at Honeywell as a mechanical engineer for many years. Driving children to 5 a.m. swim practices and following their and their teams' aquatic accomplishments attested to his devotion as a father. He served as a Michiana Marlins board member for several years and was always an advocate of swimming as a sport for children. His interest in the sport continued beyond his children's careers - especially following U of M programs. He is preceded in death by his mother Elsie and Niece Lisa Rutledge. Tom is survived by his wife Lin, father, Ted Mallory, children Jennifer Mallory of Chicago, Illinois, Jason (Meredith) Mallory of Livonia, Michigan and Kyle Mallory of Granger, Indiana, Brother Larry (Lois) Mallory Granger and sisters Karen (Doug) Douglas of Columbia, Maryland and Lynda Mallory of South Bend as well as several nieces and nephews.
