Obituary of Mildred Geiger

Mildred E. Geiger, 91, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, at her home in Niles on Saturday morning, January 17, 2009. She was born in South Bend on February 9, 1917 to the late Louis and Lillie (Bliss) Geissel. On April 6, 1954 Mildred married Oliver L. Geiger at a ceremony in Cassopolis, Michigan. A homemaker most of her life, Mildred loved spending time in her garden growing plants and flowers, raising chickens, cooking and working on puzzle books. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother Charles Geissel. Mildred is survived by two daughters Iris Geiger and Dawn (Ken) Shepard, a grandson Kenny Shepard, a granddaughter Jenelle Shepard, two great-granddaughters McKennzie Shepard and Anastasia Bashore all of Niles. She is also survived by a brother Louis (Eleanor) Geissel of Seattle, Washington. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
