Quentin Karl "Poncho" Ullmer, 81, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, following a brief illness. He was born on November 18, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Elmer and Erma (Woods) Ullmer. Quentin served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was the former owner of Keller Concrete in Mishawaka after many years of service. He was a proud member of 413 Carpenters Local Union in South Bend and a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Niles. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking, football, golf and debating current events with anyone. Quentin was also a tried and true Dale Ernhardt Sr. fan. On August 24, 2001 Quentin married Mae Hammond at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Karl Ullmer and a brother Paul Ullmer. Quentin is survived by his wife Mae Ullmer of Niles, two brothers Skeet Ullmer of Montague, Michigan and Patrick (Pam) Ullmer of Muskegon, Michigan, two sister Joan Fox and Barbara Revilla both of Muskegon, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
